What the LTC Class Covers
Module 1
Laws & Deadly Force — Texas laws relating to weapons and the use of deadly force. Your rights and responsibilities.
Module 2
Handgun Safety — Handgun use, safety, secure carrying methods, and restraint holster use for open carry.
Module 3
Conflict Resolution — Non-violent dispute resolution and de-escalation techniques every carrier should know.
Module 4
Storage Practices — Proper handgun storage to prevent accidents, especially around children.
What to Expect
Classroom Instruction (4-6 Hours)
All four Texas DPS-required modules covered by a certified instructor.
Written Test
25-question true/false and multiple choice. 70% passing score required.
Live-Fire Qualification
50-round shooting proficiency demonstration. Score 175 out of 250 to pass.
Certificate & DPS Application
Receive your Certificate of Training. Apply online via Texas DPS, submit fingerprints, receive LTC by mail.
What to Bring
Valid Texas Driver's License or ID, your handgun, 50 rounds of ammunition, and eye/ear protection (available for purchase if needed).
